This paper addresses the effect of two common manufacturingerrors on the performance of spur and helical gears; spacing errorand gear runout. In spacing error analysis, load sharing for twoworstcase scenarios are treated, one where a tooth is out ofposition and the second where stepped index errors are applied. Theanalyzed results are then used as inputs to predict gear dynamicloads, dynamic tooth stresses and dynamic factors for gearrating.
