The impact of bevel gear deviations on the noise excitationbehavior can only be examined under varying working conditions suchas different rotational speed and torque. The vibration excitationof bevel gears resulting from the tooth contact is primarilydetermined by the contact conditions and the stiffness propertiesof the gears. By the use of a detailed tooth contact analysis, thegeometry based gear properties can be developed and provided for adynamical analysis of the tooth mesh. A model has been developedfor the simulation of the dynamic behavior of bevel gears. With theaid of a load-free tooth contact analysis, the geometry-based partof the path excitation is determined. With a tooth contact analysisunder load, the path excitation caused by deflections can becalculated. The geometry based part of the path excitation and acharacteristic surface of the excitation values is created andprovided for dynamic simulation. This dynamic model is able toconsider every deviation of the micro- and macrogeometry from theideal flank topography, i.e., waves and/or grooves in the surfacestructure, in combination with two and three dimensional flankdeviations like profile deviations, helix deviations and twists. Itis also possible to consider the influence of friction and thecontact impact caused by load and/or manufacturing errors with atest rig to verify the calculations.
