This paper studies the effect of manufacturing errors onpredicted dynamic factors of spur gears. Three dynamic factors aredefined and studied: dynamic load factors, dynamic tooth forcefactors, and dynamic bending moment factors. Three computerprograms for predicting dynamics are discussed; a forced vibrationanalysis using six degrees of freedom, a multi-degree DynamicTransmission Error Program (DYTEM) using a six degree of freedommodel, and a Geared Rotor Dynamics Program that uses a finiteelement method. Using experimental data provided by NationalAeronautics and Space Administration the DYTEM program is used fordynamic factors prediction.
