Form and shape of running gears are often toleranced. The samefeatures of splines and serration gauges may need to have the samepermissible geometrical tolerances as those for running gears.Examples are given in the paper which prove that, in view of oftensmall required tolerances, it will often be necessary to calibratesplines and serration gauges with the smallest possibleuncertainty.
