Purpose
This specification is intended to serve as a guide in thecoordination of system design, to minimize the variety of programmanuscripts required, to promote uniformity of programmingtechniques, and to foster interchangeability of input tapes betweennumerically controlled machines of the same classification by type, process function, size, and accuracy. It is intended that simplenumerically controlled machines be programmed using a simple formatwhich is systematically extensible for more complex machines.
Classification
This standard applies where ever variable block format is usedon perforated tape to control numerically controlled machines.(Note: This format will usually be used with tape readrow-by-row.)
Class III, positioning and straight cut numerically controlledmachine/controller.
Class IV, continuous path or contouring/positioning numericallycontrolled machine/controller.
