Objective
The objective of this document is to provide a system for theeffective control of the environment for avionic equipment. Thisincludes:
A. BASIC DESIGN STANDARDS for avionic equipment and itsinstallation to assure suitable thermal interfaces (Chapter 2).
B. DESIGN CRITERIA AND GUIDANCE TO provide further detailsconcerning the equipment and installations (Chapter 3).
C. COOLING APPRAISAL to provide data which should be utilized byusers or equipment and aircraft manufacturers to confirm theequipment thermal design and to show compatibility with aircraftenvironment (Chapter 4).
Inherent in this objective is the principle that failure of theLRU resulting from the mechanical, electrical and environmentalinterfaces encountered on the aircraft can be minimized and thataircraft providing the interfaces as stated herein should not beheld responsible for failures of this nature.
