Purpose: This Report sets forth general philosophy, basicguidance and specific recommendations concerning the design andintegration of aircraft avionics equipment in simulators, as wellas for the implementation of special simulator functions. Itrepresents the consensus of airline simulator users, airframemanufacturers, avionics equipment designers and simulatormanufacturers. It is intended that this Report will promote mutualunderstanding among those parties in the use of aircraft avionicsequipment in flight simulators in order that simulator training canbe optimized.
When airborne equipment is useù in full flight simulators, it isdesirable for the airlines that the equipment be compatible andidentical to the aircraft fleet equipment. This ensures anidentical normal equipment response in the aircraft or a simulator,adequate adapted version of the operational softwarelhardware and asingle point of availability of spares.
Airframe manufacturers and avionics equipment designers areencouraged to take advantage of this guidance information startingwith the earliest phases in the design of aircraft avionicsequipment.
