Purpose of this Document
The purpose of this document is to provide an introduction andoverview of the ARINC Cabin Systems series of Specifications. ARINCSpecifications 628, 808, 809, 824, 831, 832, and 833; ARINCCharacteristics 765 and 791, define equipment and installationstandards for cabin equipment, which is generally defined ascommunication and entertainment equipment designed for passengeruse. The growing complexity and scope of cabin equipment hasresulted in the expansion of ARINC Specification 628 to twelveparts (including Part 0 and three sub-parts to Part 4).The partsmay continue to grow as new concepts and systems are developed.Part 0 provides the concepts and overview of ARINC Specification628 and descriptions of each individual part. A block diagramillustrating the relationship between the various parts is includedin Attachment 1. ARINC Characteristic 765 augments ARINC 628, Part9, with the Ethernet Switch Unit as a central data routing andswitching device in an Ethernet network. ARINC Specifications 810and 812 define a new generation of Galley Inserts and itsinterfaces to other cabin systems for data exchange.
