Purpose of this Document
ARINC Specification 628, Part 9, defines general architecturalphilosophy and aircraft infrastructure for the proper use andinterface of various cabin information network related equipment.Consistency with ARINC Specification 628, Part 9, allows eachrespective system to operate in concert when integrated with othercompatible cabin type equipment.
ARINC Specification 628, Part 9, defines standards for theaircraft Cabin Information Network (CIN) wiring, connectors, power, identification codes, space envelopes, and mounting principles. Theequipment itself is not the subject of this Specification becauseit may be unique to the system manufacturer or marketplace-driven.Design guidelines are included for informational purposes as theseguidelines impact the interfaces and installation of cabinequipment aboard the aircraft. Functional improvements may be madethrough the addition or enhancement of modules without modificationof the aircraft.
The CIN should be designed for specific requirements butscalable to all commercial aircraft types. A generic configurationof cabin subsystems interconnection is shown in Attachment 1, CabinInformation Network Block Diagram and Interfaces. The block diagramalso includes connections with other avionics that contribute tothe operation of the cabin.
The Cabin Local Area Network Internet Protocol (LAN IP) addressscheme is shown in Attachment 4. This scheme includes allcomponents and systems of the entire Cabin LAN
