Purpose and Goal
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for themanagement of software that is loadable aboard aircraft, referredto as Field Loadable Software (FLS). Various terms are used torefer to this software, including Loadable Software Aircraft Parts(LSAP), data bases, and other types of operational data. Thisdocument is intended to be broad and apply to all FLS. The keyfeatures of this software are as follows:
a. Capable of software load on aircraft
b. Part number is electronically verifiable on aircraft byaccessing target hardware memory
c. Does not change target hardware part number
d. The software has its own unique part number
e. The software part may be an aircraft part
f. The software can be uploaded regardless of current softwarestate and will not prevent a previous version from over writingit.
