Purpose: This document sets forth the characteristics for aselfcontained Electronic Chronometer specifically designed forinstallation in all types of commercial transport aircraft.
The intent of this document is to provide general and specificdesign guidance for the development and installation of aself-contained Electronic Chronometer primarily for airline use. Assuch, this guidance will include the details necessary to providethe desired operational capability and the standards necessary toachieve interchangeability.
Equipment manufacturers should note that this document aims toencourage them to produce maintenance-free, highperformancedevices. They are at liberty to accomplish this objective by meansof design technique they consider to be the most appropriate, astheir airline customers are interested primarily in the end resultrather than the means employed to achieve it.
