This regulation applies to all Department of the Army activitiesengaged in the inventory management and storage of Armymanaged/owned materiel. It provides instructions for use in theidentification, restoration, and reporting of shelf-life items, andincludes recommendations for minimizing costs of controlling theseitems from point of initial acquisition through final disposition.Class V supplies (ammunition), perishable subsistence, and bulkpetroleum commodities are excluded from the provisions of thisregulation.
Purpose. This regulation prescribes policies,responsibilities, and procedures pertaining to the identification,control, and utilization of shelf-life items under the inyentorymanagement of the Department of the Army.
