ARMY DA PAM 385-63

Applicability. The standards and procedures inthis pamphlet apply to all personnel and range operations andactivities on Army or Marine Corps controlled property or withinArmy or Marine Corps jurisdiction. The provisions of this pamphletapply in peacetime and contingency operations and are advisory foractual combat operations. Except for airspace and water trafficsafety requirements, these provi – sions do not apply todevelopment, proof and function test ranges, or laboratories.However, Army Commands, Army Service Component Commands, DirectReporting Units, and Marine Corps installations having such rangesand laboratories are required to develop and apply alternatestandards that are appropriate to the mission and that ensure thepreservation of life and property.

Purpose

This pamphlet provides implementation guidance for the Army andMarine Corps (MC) Range Safety Programs prescribed in ArmyRegulation (AR) 385–63 and Marine Corps Order (MCO) 3570.1B. Itprovides standards and procedures for the safe firing ofammunition, demolitions, lasers, guided missiles, and rockets fortraining, target practice, and, to the extent practicable,combat.
