ARMY DA PAM 385-63

Applicability. The standards and procedures inthis pamphlet apply to all personnel and range operations andactivities on Army or Marine Corps controlled property or withinArmy or Marine Corps jurisdiction. The provisions of this pamphletapply in peacetime and contingency operations and are advisory foractual combat operations. Except for airspace and water trafficsafety requirements, these provi-sions do not apply to development,proof and function test ranges, or laboratories. However, Armycommands, Army Service component commands, direct reporting units,and Marine Corps installations having such ranges and laboratoriesare required to develop and apply alternate standards that areappropriate to the mission and that ensure the preservation of lifeand property.

Purpose

This pamphlet provides minimum requirements for the U.S. Armyand Marine Corps Range Safety Programs prescribed in ArmyRegulation (AR) 385–63 and Marine Corps Order (MCO) 3570.1C. Italso establishes standards and procedures for the safe firing ofammunition, demolitions, lasers, guided missiles, and rockets, andthe delivery of bombs for training, target practice, and to theextent practicable, combat.
