Applicability.
This pamphlet applies to the Active Army, the Army NationalGuard of the United States, the U.S. Army Reserve, and contractors supportingoperations in a contingency environment. It applies to non tactical(commercial) wheeled vehicles and non-Army activities that have or supportArmy equipment and watercraft. It also applies to all air traffic controlequipment, including tactical and U.S. Army-maintenance air traffic controland navigational aid facilities designated for use in the National AirspaceSystem by the Federal Aviation Administration. During mobilization, proceduresin this publication can be modified to support policy changes as necessary.
Purpose
The purpose of the Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS)is to assist commanders at all levels in managing equipment use andoperations, equipment maintenance, and repair operations and to maintainequipment to the Army standard as outlined in Army Regulation (AR) 750-1. Italso provides the foundation for materiel condition status reporting (MCSR) asoutlined in AR 700-138 and controlling equipment as outlined in AR 600-55.
a. TAMMS is a comprehensive management information system,consisting of automated information components and records, manuallymaintained components and records, and a central Army database at LogisticsSupport Activity (LOGSA). This central database is the Maintenance Module ofthe Logistics Integrated Database and is used by all Army commands.
b. TAMMS uses a set of time-proven maintenance processes,engineering practices, and industry standards. The TAMMS processes andmaintenance records enable commanders to manage equipment readiness,availability, and durability, based on the level of resources provided byhigher command. Resources include the application of time, trained personnel,tools, test equipment, and funds.
