Processing the output from ANS MH10.8.3 formatted two-dimensional (2D) symbols and other Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) high capacity data carriers needs further explanation beyond current standards and guidelines on this topic. This guideline provides technical assistance for programmers and application developers supporting the processing of the 2D symbols (or other AIDC high capacity media) with the special control characters specified in the ANSI and ISO standards. The guideline includes information on processing the control characters, as well as the handling of Data or Application Identifiers, included in the symbol.
