This specification prescribes requirements for the classification ofsurfacing electrodes forshielded metal arc welding. Solid bare electrodes and rods previouslyclassified in ANSI/AWSA5.13-80 are now either discontinued or reclassified in AWSA5.21:2001, Specification for BareElectrodes and Rods for Surfacing (see Section A8 in Annex A).
