This specification prescribes requirements for the classification ofbare nickel and nickel-alloywelding electrodes, strip electrodes, and welding rods. It includesthose compositions where thenickel content exceeds that of any other element.

Safety and health information is available fromother sources, including, butnot limited to, ANSI Z49.1, Safety in Welding, Cutting, and AlliedProcesses, and applicablefederal and state regulations.
This specification makes use of both U.S. Customary Units and theInternational System of Units(SI). The measurements are not exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem must be used independentlyof the other without combining in any way when referring to materialproperties. The specificationwith the designation A5.14 uses U.S. Customary Units. Thespecification A5.14M uses SI Units. Thelatter are shown within brackets [ ] or in appropriate columns intables and figures. Standarddimensions based on either system may be used for sizing of fillermetal or packaging or both underA5.14 or A5.14M specifications.
