This standard establishes the minimum requirements to producemechanically and electronically stable solderless wrappedelectrical connections made with single, solid, round wire andappropriately designed terminals. Equipment designrequirements, such as terminal spacing, are not included in thisstandard.
Lists of typical materials commonly materials may be used inindustry are included, but other materials may be used to makesolderless wrapped connections prroviding the connections meet therequirements of this standard.
Environmental and aging test, frequency of inspection, andquality control levels are not included in thisstandard. These tests and procedures, as well as any othersdeemed necessary for a particular application, should be performedto ensure conformance of the solderless wrapped connections of therequirements of this standard and to any additionalrequirments.
In accordance with the Style Manual of the American NationalStandards Institute in this standard, the work “shall” is to beunderstood as a requirement; the work “should” as a recommendation;the word “may” as permissive, neither mandatory norrecommended.
