This Standard applies to a family of connectors having thefollowing characteristics:

• unshielded,

• trapezoidal-shaped mating interface,

• 1.27 mm pitch spacing of contacts on a double row,

• 40 and 80 positions,

• for board-to-board and a wire-to-board applications.

All dimensions in this document apply to the unmated finishedproduct (after assembly to printed circuit boards /backplanes).

While the SCA-2 connectors in this specification shouldintermate with those termed “SCA- 1” there is no specification tocontrol the SCA-1 dimensions and the lead-in features and thedifferent contact position lengths are not present on the SCA-1connectors. It is therefore not recommended that SCA-2 connectorsbe used with SCA-1 connectors in a blind mating application.

This Standard establishes uniform specifications, testingrequirements and quality assessment procedures. It is intended tobe used in conjunction with sectional specification EIA700A000.

Recommended method of mounting Fixed board (receptacle)connector is mounted on the backplane and has female contacts withstraight solder terminations.

Information on the availability of components qualified to thisstandard is given in the qualified product list.

Number of contacts or contact cavities are 40 and 80positions.
