This standard establishes test methods to determine themagnitude of porosity as well as other surface defects inherent inapplication of gold contact finishes.

Object

It is the intent that the defined method be used as anevaluation technique for the acceptability of gold contactfinishes. The method described herein has been selected on thebasis of simplicity of equipment, setup and operation. Thisprocedure applies only to gold finishes with or without underplatesapplied to copper or nickel base alloy contacts. This testprocedure does not apply to gold flash, equal to less than 0.25micrometer (10 microinches), over palladium or palladium alloysystems, see EIA-364-60.
