This standard establishes uniform test methods for those testswhich are peculiar to electromechanical switches, except thoseclassified as industrial controls (as defined in ANSI C19.3). Incase of conflict between this standard and any individual componentstandards or detail specifications, the requirements of theindividual component standards or detail specifications shallgovern.
These test methods provide a number of test conditions ofvarying degrees of severity so that appropriate test conditions maybe selected for any particular switch type.

These differences have been brought to the attention of theChief Technical Expert of the U. S. National Committee for IECTechnical Committee TC48, and resolution or differences will besought in future meetings.
