Performing a white Set-up of a CRT might involve nothing morethan adjusting the driving voltages of the three electron gunsuntil the desired white point is reached. While this approach isappropriate for factory installation of CRTs into receivers, weignore it in favor of the system analysis approach. It is based onfundamental colorimetry and produces the advantage of a formula forthe Set-up conditions of any desired white point. The formula canbe compactly represented as: L=AQ, where L is the relativeluminance balance among the three primaries to produce the Set-upwhite, A is the inverse of the normalized chromaticity matrix ofthe three primary fields, and Q is the normalized chromaticityvector of the white point.
