The continuous darkness during the Antarctic polar night defies the light-dark cycle required for normal human life, and make negative effects on occupants such as sleep disturbances and emotional disorders. The experiment was carried at the Chinese Great Wall Station in Antarctic with 10 male expedition members. Each subject was exposed to zero blue lighting pattern (ZLP) for 1 week and warm white lighting pattern (WLP) for 1 week. During the experiment, participants wore sleep bracelets and filled in sleep diary, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), with filling the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS) every half hour during the lighting. The results showed that active intervention lighting during the polar night had a significant effect on the sleep and mood of the expedition members. The lighting parameters should be further investigated on the effective improvement of the physical and psychological health of expedition members.
