This standard does not specifyfabrication techniques or component testing techniques.
This standard provides guidance for modeling acceptablenonphysical, computational thyroid phantoms. Quality assurancerequirements are provided for the use of the model in Monte Carlocomputations.
This standard recommends good practices as to the use of thyroidphantoms for radiological dosimetry purposes, including uncertaintyassessment from improper calibrations.
Purpose
This standard establishes the criteria for acceptable design,fabrication, or modeling of a phantom suitable for calibratingmonitoring systems for in vivo measurement of photon-emittingradionuclides deposited in the thyroid.
