Explosive atmospheres – Part 6: Equipment protection by oil immersion “o”
UL 60079-6
1 Scope
This part of IEC 60079 specifies the requirements for the construction and testing of oil-immersed electrical equipment, oil-immersed parts of electrical equipment and Ex components in the type of protection oil immersion “o”, intended for use in explosive gas atmospheres.1DV.1 Modification of Clause 1 first paragraph as follows:

This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, the requirement of this standard takes precedence.
This standard is applicable to electrical equipment, parts of electrical equipment, and Ex components which, in the absence of oil immersion, are not ignition capable in normal operation as determined by IEC 60079-15 or IEC 60079-11.1DV.2 Addition of 1DV.2.1 and 1DV.2.2
1DV.2.1 The U.S. version of IEC 60079-6 does not include requirements for Group I electrical apparatus. Requirements for Group I electrical apparatus included in this document are to be considered omitted in all instances where they appear.
1DV.2.2 Where references are made to IEC 60079 standards, the referenced requirements found in these standards shall apply as modified by any applicable U.S. National Differences.
