These requirements cover household, industrial, and commercial sealing, wrapping, and markin g equipment rated at 600 volts or less for use in ordinary(non-hazardous) locations in accordance with th e National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, such as laminators , label makers/applicators, stamping machines, tapingmachines, wrapping machines, shrink tunnels, bag sealers, bag tying machines, heat sealing irons, an d vacuum packaging machines.
These requirements do not cover appliances and equipment that are covered by individual requirements that are separate from this standard, such as soldering irons,ink-jet printers, or photographic film printers.
A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the Standard was developed, and thatinvolves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determinednecessary to mai ntain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard.
