This standard provides the specification for the interface whichcoincides with the Refe rence Point “Ater” defined inthe TR45 Network Reference Model shown in [I-2]. The scope of thisstandard includes the following topics:
Descriptions of the specified functional capabilities thatprovide wireless telecommun16 ications services across the BS-BSinterface as defined in the TR45 Network Ref erence Model;
Descriptions of the division of responsibility of the functionsprovided between the source BS and the target BS, withoutprescribing specific implementations;
Descriptions of the BS-BS interface standard that support DS-41and cdma2000 1 systems.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide the standard forinterfacing a Base Station (BS) with one or more BSs. This documentdefines the functional capabilities, including services andfeatures, of the specified interface. These services and featuresare the defining characteristics that are the basis for the overallsystem standard.
1 cdma2000 is the trademark for the technicalnomenclature for certain specifications and standards of theOrganizational Partners (OPs) of 3GPP2. Geographically (and as ofthe date of publication), cdma2000 is a registered trademark of theTelecommunications Industry Association (TIA-USA) in the UnitedStates.
