1. Purpose and Scope
1.1 This test method is designed tomeasure the ability of fabrics to releaseoily stains during home laundering.
1.2 This test method is primarily foruse by fabric finishers to evaluate thelikely performance of soil release finishesin actual use (see 12.1). If this testmethod is used as part of a contract betweenbuyer and seller, or in any casewhere comparisons between laboratoriesare being made, the parties should agreeto use the same ballast and detergent. Inreferee situations, or where standardspecifications are involved, 1993 AATCCStandard Reference Detergent or 2003AATCC Standard Reference Liquid DetergentWOB should be used (see 12.8and 12.13).
1.3 The use of this test on garments is not precluded.
