This evaluation procedure describesthe use of the standard depthscales for the determination of the dyeconcentration required to produce dyeingsof visually equal depth for the purposeof colorfastness evaluations. Colorantsmay have different tinctorialstrengths whereby equal concentrationdyeings of them may differ markedly inthe resulting color depth and colorfastnessproperties. Using concentrations ofcolorants which will give visually equaldepths will provide a more comparableevaluation.
