This standard applies to spur and helical gearing of 20 through120 diametral pitch and coarser is found in ANSI B6.1-1968, “ToothProportions for Coarse-Pitch In volute Spur Gears.”(AGMA201.02).
The tooth proportions shown herein will be suitable for manygear designs of finer than 120 diameter pitch, however, suchdesigns should be checked for suitability, particularly in theareas of contact ratio, undercutting and clearance.
Information on tooth proportions for spur and helical gearing of20 degree pressure angle and having 7 or more teeth is given themain body of this standard.
Gear Design with low numbers of teeth should be checked forsuitability, particularly in the areas of contact ratio, undercutting and clearance.
