Overview: This document provides guidelines for the aviationindustry to ensure that data and solutions for training areadequately provided in content and schedule, are cost effective, and are completely supported throughout the life of the equipment. It should be used at all appropriate levels within a company (e.g.,Purchasing, Operations, Training) when purchasing or developing newaircraft, major aircraft modifications, or training systems.
Training is of utmost importance to the aviation industry.Without pilots trained to fly the airplane, cabin crews trained tooperate the cabin, and mechanics trained to service and repair theairplane, an airline would not be able to exist. At the very coreof this training need is the requirement for data and solutions toenable such training to be conducted.
These data and solutions should be provided to the industry in acost effective manner
While the importance of training is not debated, therequirements for data and training solutions are often initiallyoverlooked at a time when these should be identified andimplemented. The guidelines proposed in this document,ARINC Report 441: Guidelines for the Supply ofBinary Format Software for Training Purposes and ARINCReport 442: Guidelines for the Supply of Chart DrivenModels/Source Code for Training Purposes, are intended to ensure amore cohesive and comprehensive approach to obtain the data andsolutions needed by the aviation training industry.
