Purpose
This document sets forth the basic requirements for an automaticthrottle system (ATS) Specifically designed for installation incommercial transport type aircraft. This system will provideautomatic control of throttles during approach and landing. Thesystem may, at the manufacturer’s option, provide outputs tooperate pilots’ displays for manual control of throttles (speed)and/or pitch during approach and take-off/go-around modesrespectively. The ATS may also be used for maneuvering and holdingup to the speed limit capabilities of the system.
This document is intended to provide design guidance for thedevelopment and installation of an automatic throttle controlsystem primarily intended for airline use. As such, this guidancewill include the specific requirements necessary to provide theoperational capability and standardization of equipment andinstallations
