Purpose of this Document
This document sets forth the characteristics of a digital AirData System (ADS) intended for installation in subsonic commercialtransport aircraft.
The intent of this document is to provide general and specificdesign guidance for the development of an ADS for airline use. Itwill describe the desired operational capability of the system andthe standards necessary to ensure interchangeability.
Equipment manufacturers should note that this documentencourages them to produce maintenance-free, high performanceequipment. They are at liberty to accomplish this objective bymeans of the techniques they consider to be the most appropriate.Their airline customers are interested primarily in the end resultrather than the means employed to achieve it.
