Purpose of This Document
This document sets forth the characteristics of the integratedGlobal Positioning System (GPS)/Global Orbiting NavigationSatellite System (GLONASS) sensor unit(GNSSU) portion of a GNSS system intended forinstallation in commercial aircraft. The intent of this document isto provide general and specific design guidance for the developmentof GNSS sensors for airline use. It describes the desiredoperational capability of the GNSS system and the standardsnecessary to ensure interchangeability
This Characteristic defines two stand alone deviceconfigurations that may also be referenced by other Characteristicswhich may provide a GNSS function integrated within another device.For example, ARINC Characteristics 755, 756, and 760.
