The scope of this specification is initially planned to coverall existing functional catering components (i.e., beverage makers,ovens, refrigerators, trash compactors, etc.) with future plans toinclude emerging catering components (e.g., ice makers, glass anddish washers, multi-beverage dispensers, etc.).

This document covers the Controller Area Network (CAN) datainterface attachments and envelops, all necessary data interfaceOSI layers to describe the protocol, and data content to beconsidered between smart galley system and galley equipment using aGalley Data Bus.

This document describes all needed commands and messages toimplement the following GAIN functionalities:

• GAIN Remote Operation (start/stop catering process, changestate, etc.)

• GAIN Power Control

• GAIN Data Transfer (data up/download)

• GAIN Failure Monitoring (diagnosis)

• Network Monitoring

This document should be applied to all devices attached to theGalley Data Bus.

This document does not define the equipment environmentalrequirements, physical description of the equipment, the GAIN orGAIN system architecture, design, or operation.
