This document defines Aircraft/Ground Information Exchange(AGIE) as a set of functions, protocols, and interfaces insufficient detail such that any party may develop a functioning andinteroperable implementation of the standard. To allow AGIE to meeta timely deployment schedule, complex features deemed not requiredfor initial use cases are deferred to a future definition of thisstandard. This specification defines features, capabilities, andrequirements necessary to execute initial use cases only, whileminimizing conceptual and development complexity.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to define a general purposenon-proprietary information exchange framework and protocol for theconduct of Internet Protocol based message traffic between aircraftand airline ground infrastructure. This standard is motivated bythe vision to substantially simplify information processingmanagement for airlines by eliminating multiple dissimilarimplementations with a single universal system and therebyestablishing a more economical environment.
