Purpose of this Document
ARINC Specification 832 defines standards for the aircraft 4thGeneration Cabin Network (4GCN) Cabin Distribution System (CDS)wiring, connectors, power, identification codes, space envelopes, and mounting principles. The equipment itself is not a subject ofthis specification because it may be unique to the systemmanufacturer and/or marketplace-driven. Design guidelines areincluded for informational purposes as these guidelines impact theinterfaces and installation of cabin equipment aboard theaircraft.
This specification defines general architectural philosophy andaircraft infrastructure for the proper use and interface of variouscabin related equipment. Compliance with ARINC Specification 832allows each respective system to operate in concert when integratedwith other relevant cabin equipment.
Functional improvements are capable of being performed throughthe addition or enhancement of modules without modification on theaircraft.
The CDS should be designed to support an airplane configurationand be scalable to all commercial aircraft types.
A generic configuration of cabin subsystems interconnection isshown in Figure 1-1. The block diagram also includes connectionwith avionics systems that contribute to the operation of thecabin.
