Applicability. This regulation applies to theActive Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of theUnited States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwisestated.
Purpose
This regulation prescribes policy for the use of liquidhydrocarbon fuels, lubricants, and associated products used by theArmy in the research, development, procurement, operation,modification, testing, and evaluation of military and commercialequipment and materiel. The purpose of this policy is to manageenergy commodities, quality assurance and quality surveillance,storage, and associated facilities; minimize the number andcomplexity of fuels required; and maximize the use of commercialfuels. This regulation implements a single kerosene-based fuel(SKBF) as follows: continental United States (CONUS)-the fuel typeF–24 (Jet A with status dissipater additive (SDA), fuel systemicing inhibitor (FSII), and corrosion inhibitor/lubricity improver(CI/ LI)) shall be used for operations, training, and testing, asappropriate for the ambient temperatures; outside the continentalUnited States (OCONUS)-the fuel type Jet Propulsion (JP)-8 shall beused for operation, training, and testing as allowed whenavailability and costs factors are considered by the theatercommander
