PURPOSE
a. This manual is published to provide information and guidance to personnel charged with painting and marking equipment for which the U.S. Army has responsibility.
b. Advances in paint technology have led to the.development of many paint systems that are formulated to meet specific requirements and conditions. Sometimes there is more than one painting method or technique that will satisfy the requirements for a given surface and/or environment. Similarly, the type of surface preparation and the choice of particular equipment for paint application may vary according to the environment, the coating used, and the conditions under which the paint is to be applied
