This specification prescribes requirements for the classification oflow-alloy steel electrodes forflux cored arc welding (FCAW). Metal cored low-alloy steel electrodesare classified according toANSI/AWS A5.28-96, Specification for Low-Alloy Steel Filler Metals forGas Shielded ArcWelding.(Footnote 1) Iron is the only element whose content exceeds10.5 percent in weld metalproduced using electrodes classified by this document.
