This specification prescribes requirements for the classification ofcovered copper and copperalloy electrodes for shielded metal arc welding. It includescompositions in which the coppercontent exceeds that of any other element.

Note: No attempt has been made to provide for the classification ofall grades of copper and copperalloy welding electrodes. Only the more commonly used have beenincluded.

The values stated in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as thestandard. SI units are given asequivalent values to the U.S. customary units. The standard sizes anddimensions in the two systemsare not identical, and for this reason, conversion from a standardsize or dimension in one systemwill not always coincide with a standard size or dimension in theother. Suitable conversions,encompassing standard sizes of both can be made, however, ifappropriate tolerances are applied ineach case.
