This specification establishes standard methods for mechanicaltesting of welds. The significance of each test, test apparatus,preparation of the test specimens, and the test procedure aredescribed. Example test results sheets are provided.
It is beyond the scope of this document to define the requiredmechanical properties or acceptance criteria for the weldmetal.
This standard makes sole use of U.S. Customary Units.Approximate mathematical equivalents in the International System ofUnits (SI) are provided for comparison in parentheses or inappropriate columns in tables and figures.
Safety and health issues and concerns are beyond the scope ofthis standard and therefore are not fully addressed herein. Safetyand health information is available from other sources, including,but not limited to, ANSI Z49.1, Safety in Welding, Cutting, andAllied Processes, and applicable federal, state, and localregulations.
