A collection of real-world stories from industrial hygienists covering a wide array of topics. The compilation covers workers in various fields that involve difficult, dangerous, and/or toxic environments. They range from workers dealing with the more well-known exposures like carbon monoxide, lead, and asbestos, to workers in lesser-known hazardous settings, such as cattle herding, desert clean up, and dentistry. Accompanying the stories are photographs by the well-known photographer Earl Dotter, who has spent a lifetime cataloging industrial sites around the country.
