This Sectional Specification relates to sockets designed forround-style electronic components of assessed quality. The purposeof this Specification is to provide a means of assuringinterchangeability between devices and compatibility between theboard and roundstyle electronic components and to provide standardsocket test methods, gauges and performance requirements.
Object
The object of this Specification is to define:
A unified numbering system to be used for round-style socketsstandardized by the Electronic Industries Association (EIA).
Functional levels and standard test methods and gauges for usein the examination of these sockets.
Appropriate reference dimensions of the mating devices and boardlayout to establish intermatability . and interchangeabilitycriteria.
Test severities and performance requirements prescribed inDetail Specifications referring to the Sectional Specificationshall be equal to or greater than those specified herein;degradations are not permitted.
