This standard establishes 2 methods for determining the totalamount of extractable ionic contamination on the surface of anelectrical connector or socket assembly or component.
Method A, Ionography A test method forquantifying the extractable ionic contamination on the surface ofan electrical connector or socket assembly or component using anionograph contamination measurement system as determined in sodiumchloride (NaCl) equivalents.
Method B, Ion chromatography A test method forquantifying and identifying the extractable ionic species on thesurface of an electrical connector or socket assembly or componentusing an ion chromatograph system. Ion chromatography results arereported in parts per million of ionic species.
