This standard establishes a test method to determine thecapability of a connector pair to conduct the electrical currentinduced by a lightning strike. The results derived may be used todetermine whether the contacts within the inserts will beadequately protected from flashover and whether the connectorshells will adequately conduct lightning currents.
NOTE — Coupling torque, shell-to-shell conductance, anddielectric withstanding voltage are integral measurements to beperformed as part of this test procedure, so they are included inthe document, (creating a test sequence).
