Description
This specification defines the qualification program for surgewithstand telecommunication fuses. Fuses covered will be limited toaxial-leaded, radial-leaded and surface mount configurations havinga current rating of no greater than 60 A, maximum voltage rating of600 VAC/DC and interrupting rating of 10,000 A maximum. Thequalification program is defined in table 1, and the How diagram.Specification sheets can be added, as required, lo define specificproducts or to cover unique / specific requirements. This documentdoes not relieve the suppliers Of their responsibility to maintaintheir own company’s internal qualification program and the fusesshall continue to mew all applicable requirements of UL 248-14CSA-C22.2 No. 248.14. Test procedures and requirements described inthis specification have been generated for a Type II fuse, unlessstated otherwise.
Three types of fuses are covered in this specification. Theyinclude:
Type-I-The type 1 fuses is designed lo operate (open) within agiven time period at 200% overload. For a Type 1 fuse, the 200%overload shall be substituted throughout this specification where250% overload is noted. All other requirements shall continue to bemet.
Type II- The type II fuse is designed to operate (open) within agiven time period at 250% overload. The remainder of thisspecification is written with the 250% overload test used as thestandard.
Type III – The type 111 fuse is designed lo operate (open)within a given lime period at 300% overload. For a Type III fuse,the 300% overload shall be substituted throughout thisspecification where 250% overload is noted. All other requirementsshall continue to be met.
Preconditioning
This process is intended to simulate exposure to the thermal andcleaning environments of the assembly process before qualificationtesting The component assembly process simulation requirements fordifferent types of processes are described in annex A.
