This Detail Specification defines Type 8 Undercarpet cable usedwith the Token Ring LAN Cabling System. Type 8 cable consists of 2parallel pairs of data grade wires shielded with copper foil, allcabled into a single, flat, PVC assembly with tapered flanges oneach side to reduce visibility when installed under carpet. TheCabling System is intended to be compatible with IEEE Standard802.5. It is designed to be used as a total building wiring system.The Cabling System may be used as the communications medium for aToken Ring Network as well as for other data equipment.
