This document applies to all pneumatically operated, automatedrotary or reciprocating, on/off, or modulating valves. It alsoincludes automation components (i.e. positioners, transducers, andsolenoids) as applicable. It provides a methodology forstandardizing the acquisition and reporting of data used inassessing valve condition. The document includes the type of datato be acquired, the number of measurements to be recorded and theirresolution, units of measure, nomenclature, computer file storageformat, graphical presentation, and other reporting formats. Itdoes not address interpretation of data or diagnosis of valvecondition.
All data reported per this document are acquired with the valveout of service with no internal dynamic forces acting on theclosure member.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide users of diagnosticproducts with a uniform means of acquiring and reporting data usedfor diagnosing valve operability. This is necessary to provide theend user with a means of easily and accurately comparing diagnosticresults from acquisition devices made by various manufacturers.
The following is intended to provide minimum resolution anddefinition of diagnostic tests performed. It does not precludeperforming testing with more definition or resolution, or doingother testing with which to diagnose valve performance.
